Dennis Cappel

Owner and Trainer

Dennis grew up on an Angus cattle farm, where his passion for livestock took deep roots. After graduating with a BS in Animal Sciences from the University of Missouri, he managed Briarwood Farms in Butler, MO, where he began his journey in horse training and shoeing.


Over the last 30 years, Dennis has produced champions in roping, cutting, and ranch versatility. His most recent accomplishments include being in the top ten finalist of the 2017 Extreme Mustang Makeover, Players Choice, in Ft. Worth, TX, 2016 Extreme Mustang Makeover Reserved Champion Sedalia, 2015 Extreme Mustang Makeover Champion St. Louis, MO, Colt Starting Challenge Winner (Iowa Equine Fair), and Heartland Horseman’s Challenge Winner (Illinois Horse Fair). Dennis was also a past president of the Missouri Ranch Horse Association.


Dennis is known for his extremely effective communication with horses and people to raise both to their highest potential. His psychology of “Ride Your Picture” guides all aspects of his training.
