Horse-man-ship Mentality : Time- Money-Energy

What are the qualifications of a good mentor?

No one arrives on any journey alone. The shortest path to success is always to glean from others life's experiences. This keeps you from having to go through a trial and error process that takes time - money and energy. It's not that you can't do it that way but it certainly is not the path of less resistance. Finding someone that already is where you would like to be is of the utmost importance.

A good mentor also knows the "Why's" behind the "What's. " If all they have to offer is to do this this because I said so and not "Why" it will benefit you or your horse, it will be hard for you to implement it in an effective way.

A person that can and will explain to you "Why" to do something a certain way, this allows you to create a thought process inside of you that will give meaning to "what" you're doing that the horse will respond favorably to.

The power is in the knowing "Why. " There might be more than one technique on "How" but a "How" without a well defined "Why" is at best a mechanical process void of feel.
