Horse-Man-Ship Mentality - Your Horse Feels This

Thoughts from Dennis - Life-Giver

The Importance of Breathing!

Our breath is the one thing we take for granted till we can't get it.

Pause for just a moment, close your eyes, and be aware of your breath intake and exhale -

Feel yourself giving and receiving this that is the giver of life - your breath!

This give-and-receive might possibly be the best hose training tool you have. Why is that? Because horses respond so readily to your breathing or lack of it and if we don't recognize how important it is to them and start to utilize it effectively to our benefit on purpose it will in fact work against you because you have not chosen to be consciously aware of it.

This is a tool that horses are born with as it can trigger a flight response backed with fearful emotion when the breath is held and/or snorted out. They will also respond to it as a soothing relaxation technique when one's breath is deep and can be heard through a soothing exhale and even seen by everything in its presence.

Go out and just be around your horse and breathe in slowly and deep and let it out so they can hear the exhale and watch how long it takes your horse to join you in a nice easy let-down breath.

This will put you in sync with harmony and your horse will feel safe and comfortable with you as you have given him an action he uses in nature.
