Frustration and Plateaus: When You Think You’re Doing the Right Thing but Aren’t Getting the Results You Expected

Picture this - You feel you have followed doing what you have been instructed and giving it your best effort, but the results still are not showing up.

I have been there myself, and I know how discouraging that feels.

Over the decades, I have discovered that the truth is, most challenges like this do not come from a lack of effort. They come from you not being completely “clear” about what you want. Too much uncertainty, doubting, and conflicting thoughts going on for you and your horse to make anything really clear.

Horses need to know where the boundaries are so they can operate in relief and safely. When you set clear cut boundaries with your body posture, reins, and legs, and allow the horse to find the spot where they feel release from any of those aids, positive results happen instantly.

Clarity is not about being soft or doing everything perfectly; it is about deciding exactly what you want.

The powerful 3 – Engrave these in your mind.

· What do I want my horse to do exactly?

· How do I want my horse to look doing it?

· How do I want my horse to feel doing it?

Need more clarity to end frustration and plateaus?

I can relate highly to this problem. I continue to not give up though as riding is a journey like anything else in life and requires constant growth, assessment, and reevaluation.
